Lakers Split Season Opening DH

Wright State University Lake Lakers traveled to Pippa Passes, KY to take on NAIA Alice Lloyd College for a season opening DH on Saturday. The Lakers split the opening double header by scores of 1-3 and 8-6.

Game 1: Alice Lloyd 3 vs Wright State Lake 1

The Lakers started their season very slowly at the plate, only managing 3 hits and a single run against Levi Martin of the Eagles. The Lakers did plate a run in the first inning on a Chad Anders single, however they could not muster any real offense afterward. Carson Schuman, a true freshman, had a very strong first outing, as he went the full 6.0 inning and surrendered just 1 earned run on 5 hits with 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

The Lakers were led by Chad Anders (1-3 with 1 RBI) and Ronaldo Acosta (2-2) at the plate in the losing effort.

Game 2: Alice Lloyd 6 vs Wright State Lake 8

The Lakers bounced back well in game two, although they did get off to a very rough start. The Eagles of ALC got off to a very fast start against Senior starter Riley Luebke, as they scored 5 runs in the first inning. The very young Laker squad did not panic, however, and steadily chipped away at the lead before taking the lead for good in the sixth inning. Sid Srinivasan and Quintin Cantelli combined to go 6.1 innings of relief and allowed 1 unearned run in route to the come from behind victory.

The Lakers were led by Billy Lanman, Chad Anders and Ronaldo Acosta who had 2 RBIs a piece. Additionally, Connor Burr and Chandler Craine added 2 hits and an RBI each in the winning effort
