Lakers Sweep Harriers

Wright State Laker baseball was back in action Wednesday to take on Miami Hamilton. The Lakers had a productive afternoon sweeping the Harriers and improving to 10-4 on the season.

 

How It Happened:

Game 1- Wright State Lake 14 versus Miami Hamilton 13

A walk-off walk led the Lakers past Miami Hamilton Harriers 14-13 on Wednesday afternoon. The game was tied at 13 with Wright State Lake batting in the bottom of the eighth when Ryan Ziels walked Isaac Fitzgerald for the winning run.

Miami Hamilton scored seven runs in the top half of the sixth frame, but Wright State Lake still managed to pull out the victory with nine runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to a error, a wild pitch , a walk by Billy Lanman, a error, a walk by Tristan Becker, a single by Quintin Cantelli, and a single.

Dan Borchers earned the win for Wright State Lake. He went two innings in relief, surrendering two runs, one hit, and walking one.

Ben Briede started the game for the Harriers. He threw five and a third innings, allowing seven runs, seven hits, and striking out three. Carson Schuman started the game for the Lakers. He pitched five innings, surrendering four runs, eight hits, striking out three, and walking zero.

Miami Hamilton had 12 hits in the game. Pangallo, Busick, Ryan Ziels, and Joey Johnson each collected multiple hits for Miami Hamilton. Wright State Lake collected ten hits. Cantelli and Chandler Craine each collected multiple hits for the Lakers. Isaac Fitzgerald led the Lakers with 3 RBIs, while Tristan Becker and Cantelli each had 2 RBIs.

 

Game 2- Wright State Lake 10 versus Miami Hamilton 0

Casey Grimm threw a complete game shutout as Wright State Lake defeated Miami Hamilton 10-0 in five innings in game two of the doubleheader. Grimm lost his no hit bid with 2 outs in the top of the fifth inning

Wright State Lake grabbed an early lead scoring five runs in the bottom of the first. The Lakers scored on a single by Billy Lanman, a single by Isaac Fitzgerald, a single by Chandler Craine, and a single by Connor Burr.

Andrew Kreke single in the fifth inning broke up Grimm's no hit bid. With the win Grimm improves to 2-0 and lowers his ERA to 4.50 on the season.

Wright State Lake had ten hits in the game. Lanman, Fitzgerald, and Craine each collected multiple hits for Wright State Lake. Fitzgerald led the Lakers with 3 RBIs. Lanman had his fifth game of at least 2 RBIs.
