The Lakers, yet again, overcame a large deficit early in a 10-7 victory over Shawnee State on Wednesday. The Bears took a 5-0 lead in to the bottom of the fifth inning when the Lakers rallied with 2 outs to score 4 runs and chase starting pitcher Josh Eplin from the contest.

The game was tied at five with Wright State batting in the bottom of the seventh when Chandler Craine singled off of James West, driving in Austin Quellhorst to give the Lakers the lead.

After Shawnee State scored two runs in the top of the eighth, the Lakers answered with two of their own. Shawnee State scored when Nick Rose homered off of Casey Grimm, driving in one run. Wright State then answered in the bottom of the inning when Tristan Becker singled off of Michael Weisenberger, driving in a run. Becker would later score via a balk to extend the lead to 10-7.

Grimm earned the win for the Lakers. After a tough start to the third inning, Grimm would settle down, en route to retiring 15 consecutive Bear hitters. He, ultimately, pitched eight innings, giving up seven runs (3 earned), seven hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Chase Ruiz recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Wright State. Eplin took the loss for Shawnee State. He tossed four and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs, six hits, and striking out six.

The Lakers had 14 hits in the game. Becker, Jared Knous, Ronaldo Acosta and Chandler Craine each collected multiple hits for Wright State. Dustin Lewis, Billy Lanman and Quintin Cantelli each drove in two runs to lead the Lakers.
