The Wright State Lakers traveled to Wilmington to play a doubleheader with NCAA Division III for Wilmington College on Wednesday afternoon. The Lakers bounced back from a tough game one loss to salvage a split on the day.

Wright State Lake Campus 1 vs Wilmington 11

Wright State Lake Campus fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-1 loss to Wilmington College on Wednesday. Wilmington College scored on a double by Jake Hyat, a groundout by Kyle Short, a single by Jake Robinson, a single by Nick Silvis, and a double by Jarett Trautman in the first inning.

Jared Ferenchak earned the win for Wilmington College. He tossed five innings, allowing one run, four hits, striking out four, and walking one. Carson Schuman took the loss for the Lakers. He pitched two and a third innings, allowing nine runs, eight hits, striking out one, and walking one.

Chandler Craine, Connor Burr, Anthony Steele and Dustin Lewis each collected a hit for the Lakers in game one.

Wright State Lake Campus 14 vs Wilmington 5

 An early lead helped Wright State Lake Campus defeat Wilmington College 14-5 in game two Wednesday. The Lakers scored on a single by Isaac Fitzgerald and a walk by Connor Burr in the first inning, and a single by Chad Anders in the second inning.

The Lakers scored seven runs in the fifth inning. They scored on a triple by Ronaldo Acosta, a double by Craine, a single by Tyler Venters, and a single by Fitzgerald.

Wilmington College scored four runs in the sixth inning, but it was too little, too late for the Quakers.

Casey Grimm earned the win for Wright State Lake Campus. He tossed seven innings, giving up five runs, six hits, and striking out one. Joshua Chua took the loss for Wilmington College. He threw one inning, giving up five runs, five hits, and striking out three.

Wright State collected 17 hits. Lewis, Anders, Acosta, Tristan Becker, Fitzgerald and Craine each collected multiple hits for the Lakers in game two. Anders and Lewis each managed three hits to lead the way from the plate.

The Laker Baseball team now sits at 17-8 on the season and is, currently, ranked #1 in the USCAA Coaches Poll.
