WSU-LC Baseball Completes the Comeback Against the Barons

In a day with many changes the WSU-LC baseball team was able to get their game in with Ohio State University Lima Barons. The game was originally scheduled to be a double header and the home opener for the Lakers at Montgomery field, but due to weather conditions the game was moved to the Dayton Campus at Nischwitz Field for a single nine inning game. 

Lakers took the lead late and defeated Ohio State University - Lima 13-12 on Wednesday. The Lakers were down 10-9 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Tristan Becker tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs. Becker led Lakers to victory by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-5 at the plate. Becker drove in runs on a double in the fifth and a triple in the seventh.Lakers took an early lead in the second inning. Isaac Fitzgerald drove in one when he doubled.

Ohio State University - Lima knotted the game up at two in the top of the third inning. Conway singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. OSU- Lima scored four runs in the third inning. The Barons big inning was driven by a single by Conway and a home run by Johnny Schmook. The Barons held an 8-4 lead over the Lakers until the home team's bats woke up and scored nine runs over the next two innings.

Javon Harvey led the Lakers to victory on the pitcher's mound. He surrendered one run on zero hits over one inning. Kane Kimmel, Noah Greathouse, and Quintin Cantelli all put in work on the pitcher's mound in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Cantelli recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Lakers. Sheriff started the game for Lakers. He allowed ten hits and five runs over four innings, striking out two and walking one.

Lakers tallied 15 hits on the day. Becker, Dustin Lewis, Connor Burr, Greathouse, and Tyler Venters each managed multiple hits for Lakers. WSU-LC 13-12 win over the Barons pushed the Lakers record to 9-9 on the season.
