Wright State Lake Campus Men's Basketball team traveled to Iowa for the weekend slate of games and in the first of two games the Lakers took on, the NCAA Men's Basketball scoring champs, Grinnell College. Grinnell College famous for their high pressure and up tempo offense would prove to be quite a challenge for the young Lakers. The Grinnell Pioneers used quick runs to pull away from the Lakers. In the first half the Lakers were down 33-32 with three minutes to go when the Pioneers went on a 18-9 run to close the half. After the first frame the Lakers had 22 turnovers and the score stood 51-41. The Lakers regrouped in the second half and opened the half strong cutting the deficit to 6 in the first three minutes, but over the next 6 minutes the Pioneers pressure wore down the Lakers and Grinnell was able to build their lead over 20, and the Lakers could not get closer than 16 for the remainder of the game. The Lakers were led by Jake Ryan's 20 points. Isaac Clay chipped in 13 points and 6 assists off the bench while Jalen Huff stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points 6 assists 5 rebounds 4 steals and 2 blocks. The Lakers ultimately fell 125-98.

• Turnover Battle: Lakers turned it over 35 times while also forcing Grinnell into 22 of their own turnovers
• Lakers shot a season high 55% from the floor
• Lakers set a season high 27 assists
• Grinnell College won the rebounding battle 48-41 over the Lakers, 25 of Pioneers rebounds were offensive
• Free Throw Line Advantage: The Pioneers went 26/36 from the free throw line compared to the Lakers 5/11

Coach Westerlund on playing Grinnell, "This game is always a unique experience for our guys. This is the third time I've played Grinnell College, and I have a lot of respect for Coach Arsenault and the the innovative way they approach the game of basketball. We did our best to prepare our guys, because this is such a unique style it can be difficult. Unfortunately for us we just made too many mental errors to overcome for a win. Grinnell does a great job in capitalizing mistakes and speeding you up. I am proud of the way our guys competed, we just need to continue to learn how to play a complete 40 minutes."
