The Wright State Men's Basketball Lakers had their first USCAA game of the year Friday night looking to end a seven game losing streak. The Lakers used a balance scoring attack to take down Southern State 103-73. The Lakers depth was a key factor in wearing down the Patriots. The Lakers pressure was wore down the Patriots over the course of the game as the home team was able to built a comfortable lead start to finish. The highlight of the game came from Zakarius Milhouse when he electrified the crowd from steal at half court and dunked on an unsuspecting Southern State Patriot. The Lakers had 6 players in double figures led by Jordan Gorman's 19 points and Jalen Huff's 18 points. Noah Benson, Quincy Green, Chaz Painter and David Swillum were also in double figures for the home team.

• The Lakers controlled the glass grabbing 22 offensive rebounds and total of 52 rebounds compared to the Patriots 34 total rebounds.
• The Lakers out shot the Patriots 96-59
• Patriots committed 29 turnovers while only dishing out 4 assists compared to the Lakers 32 assists on 12 turnovers.
• Lakers big men (Nick Passino, Chaz Painter, Tyrone Auzenne Jr., and Noah Benson) combined for 14/24 shooting for 31 points and 26 rebounds including 11 offensive rebounds.

What Coach Says:

Coach Richard Westerlund on getting the win, "It is always nice getting a win. November was a tough stretch and its always better to learn lessons in wins than it is in losses. I was really happy with the way our bigs played. I thought they did a great job getting on the glass and working to get position. I also liked the way we pressured for different points during the game, but we need to still learn how to play to our standard for 40 minutes." Coach Westerlund on adjustments, "I thought we were very lazy in our half court defense. I thought we were complacent in the half court and lacked the discipline necessary to be an elite defensive team. We need to continue to focus on getting better on that end of the floor." Coach Westerlund on tempo, "We've been talking about creating tempo better and I still think we have a ways to go with it, but out shooting our oppenent by 37 shots is a good start. We need to now focus on the efficiency with our tempo."
