Lakers Out Muscle the Barons in Win

The Wright State Lakers made the short trip up the interstate to take on the Barons at Ohio State University Lima. The Lakers came into the game focused after losing four straight games. The Wright State Lakers started fast again fueled by their pressure defense and out muscling the Barons on the offensive glass. Jordan Gorman led the Laker transition attack in the first half scoring all 13 of his points in the first half. The Lakers pressure made the Barons very uncomfortable on the offensive side. In the second half the Lakers continued to push the tempo, to wear down the Barons. Zakarius Milhouse, Chaz Painter and Tyrone Auzenne Jr. each grabbed over four offensive rebounds. Painter did a great job offensively scoring 12 points and giving the Lakers an interior offensive threat.

Inside the Box Score:

  • Jordan Gorman stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points 8 assists 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
  • Lakers had five players in double figures (Gorman, Auzenne, Painter, Isaac Clay, and David Swillum)
  • Lakers grabbed a season high 28 offensive rebounds
  • Lakers shot 45 percent (37/83) from the floor compared to the Barons 31 percent (24/76)

What Coach Says:

Coach Westerlund said this about the performance, "I was really pleased with our first half effort. We have been really emphasizing the getting on the boards, tempo, and pressure. The guys responded really well tonight. After losing four straight, this was a great one to get for our group. In the second half I thought we got really complacent defensively, and that cannot happen. We want to be a championship caliber team, we must be able to play a complete 40 minutes on both ends. We are still learning how to do that." On Chaz Painter and Jordan Gorman's performances, "I was really proud of Chaz and Jordan they have really been working hard in practice and getting their reps in. We are a better team when those two have things clicking offensively."
