Rhema Out Muscles Lakers to Victory

The Wright State Lake Men's Basketball Program tipped off against Rhema College in the program's first national tournament appearanced Thursday afternoon with hopes to bring back the university's first national championship. The Lakers began the game with Rhema College Eagles in a back and forth affair. The score stood 8-8 when Rhema's Tele Adenihum started to impose his will on the Lakers inside on the offensive glass. The Lakers showed signs of rust after being off for two weeks, and the Rhema Eagles were energized and attacking the Lakers on the offensive end. Zakarius Milhouse paced the Lakers throughout the game with his energy on both ends of the floor. The Lakers trailed at the half 51-35. The Eagles outrebounded the Lakers 34-16 in the first half including 13 first half offensive rebounds.

In the second half the Lakers tried to chip away at the Rhema lead but could not cut the lead closer than 16 points. The Lakers showed better energy in the second half but the damage was already done in the first half. The Lakers were out rebounded 59-38 on the game. Tyrone Auzenne Jr. had a good game scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Milhouse finished his night with 15 points 9 rebounds and 2 assists. The Lakers lost the game to the Eagles 93-71.

  • Rhema Eagles also won the battle of the free throw line shooting 20/25 from the free throw line compare to the Lakers 9/15

What Coach Says:

Coach Richard Westerlund said this about tonight, "I am extremely disappointed with our performance tonight. We had a tremendous opportunity in front of us and we allowed a team to beat us only because they out worked us and brought more energy. We need to pursue the basketball and better competitive spirit tomorrow as we go into the consolation bracket. These guys are young, and tonight we showed our youth." On tomorrow's game, "We play a good Southwestern Adventist team. They won this tournament a year ago. We need have a positive response. We came here to prove something and earn respect for our program on a national stage, and we have another opportunity to do that tomorrow." On Zakarius Milhouse and Tyrone Auzenne Jr. play, "I thought those guys brought it tonight. I was proud of their effort. We need more guys to step up, but those two played hard and played well today."
