Lakers Too Much for Harriers

Wright State Lake Women's Basketball came into Sunday's game versus Miami - Hamilton looking to bounce back from a loss to Ohio Christian University, and they were back at full strength after getting Onyx Lopez back from injury. The Harriers used the three ball early and often to try and keep the game tight, as they shot 34 three pointers on the game. However, the Lakers proved to be too much for the Harriers to handle, as they walked away with the 74-54 victory to move to 3-6 on the season.

How It Happened:

The Lakers were able to play consistently throughout, outscoring the Harriers of Miami Hamilton in each quarter on the way to a 20 point victory. The Lakers were unable to get much going offensively early, however, as they scored only 13 first quarter points and lead 13-7. The Lakers extended the lead to 35-22 at half. The Lakers were, again, plagued by numerous turnovers, but shot the ball well from three (46%) and the free throw line (77%) en route to the victory.

Cami Hellwarth lead the Lakers with a monstrous 23 points on 7-13 shooting from the field and 9-10 from the free throw line, in addition to 18 total rebounds. Onyx Lopez, also, had a very nice game as she had 21 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals for the Lakers. In addition, Haley McGillvary, also, added 15 points and an impressive 18 rebounds including 5 on the offensive glass to go along with a career high 6 blocked shots.
