Wright State Lake Women's Basketball once again struggled offensively on Friday night at Edison State Community College. The Chargers of Edison State used a balanced offensive attack against the Lakers, as they outscored the Lakers 13-7 in each of the first two quarters to take a 26-14 lead in to halftime. The Lakers, also, continued their recent struggles from the free throw line, going 3-12 on the game as a team.
How It Happened: After trailing by a score of 26-14 after the first half, the Chargers had a particularly strong third quarter on their way to a 45-23 lead after three. That spurt was largely helped by former Wapakoneta High School student-athletes, Riley Culver and Carly Buzzard, who combined to shoot 11-18 from the field for the game. In the fourth quarter, the Lakers did go on an 8-0 run, showing they there was still plenty of fight left, but ultimately were outscored 14-10 in the quarter. Karri Purdy lead the Lakers with 9 points, including 2 three pointers, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 rebounds. Cami Hellwarth, also, added 5 points and 15 rebounds, in addition to 3 blocked shots and a steal for the Lakers.
Up Next: Lakers next play at Southern State CC on February 4th, with a 1:00p tip-off.
