The Lady Lakers enter the 2019-20 campaign with rejunvination and excitement with 5 new players signed and a core of returning players. Coach Logan Lanier entering his 4th season states "We will have more quickness from the guard positions that will mold well in our defensive schemes as well as a big boost in the post position". Returning starters Sophomore Kenadee Dixon the teams leading scorer at 11.0 ppg 4.0 apg, Junior's Kelsie Hunt 10.3ppg 7.8rpg. Mikayla Stump 10.3ppg 24.1%3pt, and Nicole Fogt 9.8ppg 11.8rpg. who came to the team in the second semester of last year gives us a fordable returning core. Point Guard Ziona Williams from Lakeland Community College head the list of newcomers. "She will be counted on to set the table for us defensively and offensively said Coach Lanier. Her experience having already played 2 years on the college level will give us the leadership and skill lacking from that position for some time. Also signed were a trio of players from Columbus, Ohio's Eastmoor Academy. Shooting guard Teresa Craig, Center Mallory Barnes and Point Guard Elise Pryor comes from a winning program and will give us skill level at those positions. Also signed were Shooting Guard's Sion Williams from Nordonia, Ohio. Micah-McCree Davis another junior college transfer from Lake Michigan Community College and Benton Harbor, Michigan will give added depth to a now loaded guard position. "There is no question that our strength will come from our guards continued Coach Lanier. Part of my system for years require extreme quickness from the guard positions as we attempt to wear down opponents defensively.The Lady Lakers will have a 25 game schedule starting off October 20th at Indiana University -Kokomo in Kokomo, Indiana. Other NAIA games include The University of Michigan-Dearborn, Wilberforce University, Siena Heights University, West Virginia Tech, Midway University, Indiana University-Northwest, Indiana University-Southeast and NCAA D2 schoiols Wayne State (Michigan) and Tiffin University. USCAA League games University of Cincinnati-C Clermont and Kent State Tuscawaras will be played at the Nutter Center in Dayton. Our annual "Pink Game" Breast Cancer Fundraiser will be played on Jan 29th at the Nutter Center against UC Clermont. Rounding out the USCAA schedule are Southern State, Andrews University and Bryant and Stratton College.
