Lakers Lose Big Lead Late

Lakers lost the lead late in a 13-11 defeat to Sinclair Community College on Saturday.  The Lakers were up 11-7 going into the bottom of the eighth when Sinclair Community College started to rally. The rally was sparked by the Lakers pitching walking the bases loaded. The game was tied at 11 with Sinclair Community College batting in the bottom of the eighth when Dylan Carpenter doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Stephen Hoendorf drove in four runners in the loss. Hoendorf drove in runs on a home run in the fifth, a home run in the seventh, and a wild pitch in the eighth.

Sinclair Community College got things started in the first inning. Sinclair Community College scored one run when Brandon Henson tripled. After Lakers scored two runs in the top of the seventh, Sinclair Community College answered with two of their own. Lakers scored when Hoendorf hit a solo homer and Dustin Lewis singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Sinclair Community College then answered when Carpenter singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.Lakers notched three runs in the fifth inning. Noah Greathouse and Hoendorf each had RBIs in the big inning.

Carson Schuman was on the mound for Lakers. He lasted five innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out four. Casey Grimm and Quintin Cantelli entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.

Sinclair Community College mashed two home runs on the day. Carpenter went yard in the second inning. Eddie Pursinger went for the long ball in the fifth inning.

Lakers totaled 14 hits. Hoendorf, Lewis, and Conor Schmitt all had multiple hits for Lakers. Schmitt.
