Lakers Drop Doubleheader at Trine

The Lake Campus traveled to Angola, IN on Sunday, March 26th to take on Trine University in a doubleheader that was picked up after inclement weather canceled the rest of the series against Grace Christian. The Lakers dropped both against Trine with final scores of 5-2 and 3-2. In Game 1, the Lakers started senior Sam Conklin (1-1) on the mound, who recorded the loss in the game. In his 4 innings of work, Conklin allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks, striking out one Trine hitter. In relief, Bryce Keen pitched 2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out one. The Lakers were led offensively by multiple players all recording one hit, including freshman Noah McEldowney, sophomore Riley Osterbur, junior Nick Hundley, sophomore Brady Hobert, junior Hayden Bill, sophomore Dillon Lacey, and freshman Liam Musgrove. Recording RBI's were sophomores Hobert and Lacey.  

In Game 2, the Lakers had freshman Ethan Griffith (0-1) on the mound, who recorded a no decision in his 4 innings of work. Griffith allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits and six walks. Griffith also struck out three Trine hitters. On in relief, Levi Polen (0-2) recorded the tough-earned loss in 1.1 innings of work. Polen allowed one hit and one walk, also striking out two. To finish off the bottom of the 6th, sophomore Trever Sheets came in to record the final two outs. Offensively, the Lakers were led by freshman Noah McEldowney and sophomore Drew Emerson, who both recorded two hits and one RBI apiece. The Lake Campus now stands with a record of 9-8 as they return home to play against Edison State on Wednesday, March 29th in a single 9 inning contest starting at 5:30pm. We hope to see you there!
