The Lakers needed 11 innings in a scheduled 9-inning game to finish off the Chargers of Edison State with a walk off infield single by freshman Kaden Davidson. The Lakers were given a great start by sophomore Shane Koedyker (2-1), who received a no decision after going 6 innings. In his outing, Koedyker allowed two runs (earned) on three hits and four walks. He would also strike out six Chargers. On in relief first was freshman Gabe Link, who went 2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, striking out two hitters. Next, sophomore Dalton Hodge came on in a save situation for the top of the 9th, but he was unable to record the save. Hodge allowed one run (earned) on one hit and three walks. Hodge would go 1.1 innings before turning things over to sophomore Trever Sheets (2-0), who recorded the win and went 1.2 innings. Sheets allowed 2 runs (earned) on two hits and zero walks, striking out two Edison hitters. Top hitters for the Lakers were freshman Noah McEldowney and sophomore Brady Hobert, who captured 3 hits and 2 hits, respectively. Four Lakers recorded one RBI apiece – McEldowney, junior Nick Hundley, freshman Brandon Hampton, and freshman Kaden Davidson. Davidson would come up big for the Lakers in the bottom of the 11th, securing the 6-5 win with a walk off hustle infield single. This win moves the Lakers to 10-8 as they look forward to their first conference opponent, Miami-Hamilton, on Saturday April 1st and Sunday April 2nd for a four-game series.
