Hobert Leads the Lakers in Three Game Sweep at Alice Lloyd

The Lakers (1-2) traveled to Pippa Passes, Ky on Friday February 16th to take on the Alice Lloyd Eagles. The Lakers took advantage of the three game series being played in one day, winning all three games in a row. The defense remained perfect through 21 innings of play. Brady Hobert led the offense, going 7/13 with 2 doubles and 3RBIs on the day. 

Game 1

Brady Hobert collected three hits in five at bats as the Lakers defeated the Eagles 5-3. Hobert doubled in the fifth inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the seventh inning. The Lakers opened the scoring in the top of the first when Nick Hundley singled, scoring one run and advancing to second. Noah Crawfod then drove him in on a single to left. The Lakers added to their early lead in the top of the second after Hobert singled, and Noah McEldowney grounded out, each scoring one run. Shane Koedyker started and earned the win in a complete game effort. The righty gave up five hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking four. The Lakers amassed twelve hits in the game. Ashton Focht and Hobert each collected three. Liam Musgrove and Noah Crawford each collected multiple hits. 

Game 2

The Lakers snached the lead late in their 3-2 victory. The Lakers opened the scoring in the third after Brad Hobert singled, scoring one run. The Eagles took the lead back in the bottom half, going up 2-1. The Lakers would tie the game in the top of the fourth on a wild pitch. The game was tied at two in the top of the seventh when an error on a batted ball by Hobert scored one run. Daniel Brayton started and earned the win in the second complete game of the series. The right-hander surrendered six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out one and walking three. Hobert and McEldowney were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits in the game. 

Game 3

The Lakers took the game with a score of 6-1. The Lakers got on the board in the top of the third inning after Logan Garrett doubled, Liam Musgrove singled, and both scored. The Lakers added two more runs in the top of the fourth on a home run to left by Cade Meade. Alex DiVincenzo earned the win. The starter gave up three hits and one run over five innings striking out five and walking four. Hayden Bill pitched the last two innings for the Lakers, the reliever gave up one hit, striking out one and walking none. The Lakers collected 11 hits on the game, Brady Hobert, Noah Perkins, and Turner Eersole each collected two. 

The Lakers are back in action on February 23rd, in a double header versus The Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi.
