The Lakers Win in Fashion, Freshman Turner Ebersole Walk Off Versus Defiance College

The Lakers hosted Defiance College in a midweek game played on Wednesday March 27th, 2024.

It came down to the wire at Mongomery field, as the Lakers grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 3-2, over Defiance College. The game was tied a 2 in the bottom of the 9th, bases loaded when freshman Turner Ebersole stepped to the plate. He singled on a fastball, scoring Nick Hundley who got the rally started earlier in the inning with a double. The pitching was strong on both sides, the Lakers staff striking out 11 and Defiance sitting down 4. Offensively, the Lakers started out the game hot, scoring two runs in the 1st. Noah Perkins hitting an RBI single and Nick Hundley bouncing into a fielders choice to put the Lakers up 2-0 out of the gate. However, that's all the runs the Lakers would manage for the first 8 innings of play. Defiance would get their runs in back to back innings, scoring in the 4th and tieing the game in the 5th via home run. On the mound, Noah McEldowney got the start for the Lakers. In his first ever collegiate start, the sophmore went 5 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, striking out 5 and walking 3. Noah Crawford came in to relive him and got the win for the game, going 4 innings and only allowing 2 base runners on walks, while striking out 6. Offensively, the Lakers managed 9 hits for the game. McEldowney, Hundley, and Ebersole leading the charge, each with 2 hits in the game. Followed by hits from Perkins, H. Bill, and Crawford.

The Lakers are back in action this weekend, playing three games at Asbury University in Willmore, Kentucky. This is a three team event with the Lakers, Trinity Christian College and Asbury University.
