Lakers Go 3-1 in Weekend Series versus Hocking College

Wright State Lakers finish 3-1 in a four game series vs. The Hocking College Hawks. 

Game 1

The Lakers were victorious against Hocking College, winning 5-0 in Saturdays first game played at Montgomery Field. The Lake Crew got on the board early, after a Hayden Bill doubled scored 2. Perkins and Focht both singled earlier in the inning. McEldowney would bring in 2 more runs in the bottom of the second on a fly ball to center, the lefty scored Bill and Musgrove who reached on a dropped third strike. The only other run the Lakers would manage came in the 5th on a Noah Perkins double. The sophmore scored senior Nick Hundley who singled to lead off the inning. Shane Koedyker started and earned the win for the Lakers, the righty gave up 5 hits and zero runs over 6 innings, striking out 6 and walking one. Noah Crawford tossed the last inning, allowing 0 hits, sriking out 1 and walking 1, surrendering no runs. The Lakers collected 5 hits in the game, Perkins leading the offense with 2, Hobert, McEldowney, Hundley, Focht, and H. Bill all collecting 1. 

Game 2

Both teams were strong on the hill in the second game, but the Lakers came out on top with a score of 3-1. Daniel Brayton started for the Lakers, the sophmore got the complete game win, going 7 innings, giving up 1 run, 3 hits, striking out 6 and walking 2. On the offensive side of the ball, the Lakers got on the board in the 3rd after Noah McEldowney hit a sacrafice fly, scoring Musgrove who singled earlier in the inning. Hocking would get one back in the top of the 4th to tie things at 1-1. The game wouldn't stay tied for long tho, as in the bottom half of the 4th, Jacob Barr would walk, and later come in to score on a ball in play by Musgrove. One of the 2 errors made by the Hocking second baseman. The Lakers would get their last run in the 6th, after licking hit bat prepitch, catcher Nick Dilhoff got things started with a single. Turner Ebersole came in to run for him and was moved over on a single by Hayden Bill, and would score when Liam Musgrove singled right after. The Lakers collected 8 hits total for the game, Musgrove, Focht and Dilhoff all collecting two. McEldowney, and H. Bill each managing 1. 

Game 3

The Laker lost the lead late to fall to the Hawks 10-13. Alex DiVicenzo started for the Lakers, the tall right hander went 4 innings, givning up 5 runs on 3 hits, striking out 4 and walking 4. He was followed by freshman Cole Neely who went 0.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and striking out 1. Trever Sheets would go next, taking the loss, he went 1.1 innings, allowing 4 runs, 3 hits, walking 2 and stirking out 2. Seth Meade came in with a chance to hold the one run lead in the bottom of the 6th. However, he would give up a double to let Hocking go up 13-10 late in the game. Offensively, the Lakers continued to have a strong weekend, putting up 10 runs on just as many hits. Powered by a 3 hit game by Noah McEldowney and an opposite field bomb by Cade Meade. In the game, Hundley, Focht and Meade would both collect 2 hits. Hobert adding 1 to the hit total as well. 

Game 4

The Lakers would bounce back strong and soak up some sun in the last game of the series, winning decisively 12-1 in 5 innings. Lead by Cade Meade at the plate, the first baseman went 3 for 4 with his second home run of the day. Opening up the scoring in the top of the second. Followed by singles from Focht and Hayden Bill. Focht scoring on a single by freshman Turner Ebersole. Liam Musgrove drawing a walk right after. Then, Musgrove, Ebersole and Bill would all cross safley on a bases clearing double by Noah McEldowney and Noah Perkins would drive him in on a single before the inning ended. Making the score 6-0 going into the bottom of the second. The Lakers would add 1 more in the 3rd, 2 more in the 4th and 3 more in the 5th, totaling 12 runs. Hayden Bill started on the mound for the Lakers, the righty was effiecient and nearly perfect in the game. The senior went 5 innings, and only allowed 1 base runner who singled up the middle in the 5th and came around to score on a throwing error. He also struck out 4 in his impressive performance on the hill. 

The Lakers are back in action Wednesday, March 20th vs. Wilberforce.
