Lakers Go 1-2 Down in Mississippi

Wright State Lakers go 1-2 down south against the Mississippi University for Women Owls. 

Game 1

Game goes down to the wire as the Lakers lose to the Owls on the final play in the 11th inning. A walk off left the lakers on the wrong side of a 4-3 loss as the Owls Benson singled, scoring a run. Despite the loss, the Lakers out hit the Owls 8-7. Senior Ashton Focht led the Lakers with 3 hits. Scoring opened up in the top of the 3rd as Brady Hobert singles, scoring Liam Musgrove who reached on a walk. Nick Hundley later doubled and both him and Hobert were brought in on a single by Ashton Focht. Those three runs in all the Lakers would manage for the game. Focht finshed 3 for 5 on the day, Hobert collecting 2 hits, Nick Hundley, Cade Meade and Hayden Bill all collecting 1 hit on the day. On the defensive side of the ball, Daniel Brayton started the game and surrendered 4 hits and 2 runs over 7.2 innings, striking out 5 and walking 4. Trever Sheets came in to relieve Brayton, going 2.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on three hits, striking out none, walking 2 and recieving the loss. 

Game 2

Hits aplenty for both offenses in a 6-10 defeat for the Lakers. The Owls finishing with 13 hits and the Lakers collecting 11. We were the first to get on the board in the 2nd when Logan Garrett singled, scoring Nick Hundley and Noah Crawford after both singled. The lead wouldn't last for long as the Owls recatured the lead in the bottom of the inning, going up 3-2. The Lakers would bounce back in the third however, after Noah McEldowney singled, scoring one. Followed by a three run home run by Cade Meade, making the score 6-3. This proved not to be enough, as the Owls scored 4 in the 4th, putting them ahead 7-6. They would add 1 run in the 5th on a solo home run, and collect 2 more in 6th. Reaching our final score of 6-10. Alex DiVencenzo started for the Lakers, earning the loss. The righty went 3.1 innings, allowing 7 runs on 7 hits, striking out 2, and walking 2. Liam Musgrove, Noah Crawford, and Noah McEldowney each collecting multiple hits for the Lakers. 

Game 3

Lakers outscore the Owls in an offensive game, collecting 16 hits and earning the win 13-9. Nick Hundley collected three hits in five at bats, with 2 singles and a double. The Lakers got on the board early, as Brady Hobert doubled, and Nick Hundley grounded out, and Noah Crawford scored on a wild pitch. The Lakers added to their early lead in the 3rd, adding 2 more runs giving a us a 5-2 lead after the Owls. The Lakers would score 8 more on 3 hits by Hobert, Hundley and McEldowney, and Crawford collecting 2 hits. McEldowney and Kyle Bill were a one-two punch in the lineup, each driving in 3 runs. Shane Koedyker earned the win for the Lakers, the starter allowed 8 hits and 7 runs over 4.1, striking out 2 and walking 4.
