Lakers Defeat Wilberforce University in High Scoring Affair

Both the Lakers and the Wilberforce University Bulldogs had their offenses going in a high scoring affair Wednesday, Mrach 20th, 2024. 

The Lakers came out on top versus the Bulldogs in a midweek game, the final score being 11-8. The Lakers got on the board early scoring in the botom of the 1st inning after the Bulldogs made two errors and Noah Crawford singled. Musgrove amd McEldowney scoring in the inning, putting the Lakers up 2-0. We would add on 7 more in the second after a collection of walks and hits, Perkins, Ebersole, Musgrove, McEldowney, Hobert, Hundley and Focht all coming across home plate to score. Putting the Lakers up big, 9-0 to end the second inning. The Lakers would add on another in the bottom of the 3rd, Liam Musgrove singling and stealing his way over to third. He would be later be brought in on a single by Crawford to make the score 10-0. The Bulldogs would start to bounce back in the 5th however, as a single followed by a doubled nets them a run. They would add 4 more in the 6th, but we would also add 1 run in the inning. Making the score 11-5 heading into the 7th. Wilberforce would add their last three runs in the 7th, on a pair of walks, a hit by pitch and a single. This is where the game would remain however, as niether team plated a run in the last two innings. Noah Crawford started and earned the win for the Lakers, the sophmore opened the game, going 3 innings, surrendering 2 hits, walking 2 and striking out 2. He allowed no runs. The Lakers pen was active in this game, as Cole Neely, Alex DiVincenzo, Turner Ebersole and Noah McEldowney all made an apperance. The Lakers pitching gave up 8 runs on 7 hits, 7 walks and struck out 12. Offensively, we collected 10 hits, Musgrove, McEldowney, Crawford, and Dilhoff all managing 2 hits. Hundley and Lacey each contributing 1. 

The Lake Crew is back in action this weekend, March 23rd and 24th in a four game set versus Trine University.
