After assessing the number of athletic programs and the participation in each sport during last academic year, Wright State University – Lake Campus has chosen to suspend its women's volleyball and softball operations for the 2017-18 season.

Wright State University – Lake Campus athletic director Trent Kline said, "This was a decision that we never dreamed we would be making. Sometimes situations arise and that leads to really difficult decisions needing to be made. We are grateful to the student-athletes who have helped to build these programs and we will continue to assess our offerings in the future."
