Tyler Venters both hit and pitched well for Wright State Lake Campus, but it wasn't enough as the Lakers fell to UC-Clermont 14-1 on Tuesday.
UC-Clermont couldn't get anything going as long as Venters was pitching. UC-Clermont managed just one hit off of the the Lakers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out none during his one inning of work.
Christman recorded the win for UC-Clermont. He allowed one run over seven innings. Christman struck out five, walked two and gave up four hits.
Murry, Beinke, King and Skeeger helped lead UC-Clermont. They combined for nine hits and seven RBIs.
Dan Borchers ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed eight runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out none.
The game was never in doubt after the first, as UC-Clermont scored three runs in the first inning and added 6 more in the second. Murry's three-run home run got things going, plating Jesse and King. That was followed up by Beinke's solo blast.
The Lakers scored its only run of the game in the third inning.
In Game Two, the Lakers lost a hotly contested 7-6 game in seven innings after surrending the lead in the seventh inning.
Alek Hartell took the loss for the Lakers. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
