Wright State Lake Splits Day Two at Clermont

WSULC built an early lead against Rochester College, scoring six runs in the first inning, en route to a 8-7 win in game one on Sunday at UC-Clermont. 

The Lakers scored in the first on a two-run error, a walk by Ronald Acosta, a walk by Storm Wolter, a fielder's choice, and a balk. 

Wright State Lake staved off Rochester College as Rochester College was unable to match the Lakers down the stretch. 

Rochester College scored on an RBI triple by Sarkis, an RBI single by Mischley, and an error in the second inning and a two-run home run by Provow in the sixth inning. Despite its efforts, Rochester College couldn't finish the comeback. 

Even though Alek Hartell allowed six runs over 5 1/3 innings he still recorded the victory. Hartell struck out four, walked five and gave up five hits. 

Green was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in five innings, walked two and struck out five. 

Rochester College jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. A double by Hartwick, plating Provow and Kunert started the inning off. 

WSULC Lakers scored one run in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the fifth. In the fourth, the Lakers scored on a groundout by Isaac Fitzgerald, plating Derek Waterman.

Tristan Becker went 2-2, but WSULC still fell to UC-Clermont 9-6 in game two on Sunday at UC-Clermont. 

Christman recorded the win for UC-Clermont. He allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out two, walked six and surrendered five hits. 

Scarlato, King and Skeeger helped lead UC-Clermont. They combined for eight hits and four RBIs. 

Zach Short was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked two and struck out one. 

The Lakers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third. Dillon Bell singled to ignite the Lakers' offense. An error then moved Bell from first to second. Ronald Acosta singled, plating Bell. The scoreboard lit up again for WSULC when Nealeigh scored on a fielder's choice. 

UC-Clermont answered the Lakers' top inning with two runs of its own in the third. UC-Clermont scored on an error and an RBI single by Beinke. 

UC-Clermont never trailed after scoring three runs in the fourth on two singles. 

One run in the top of the fifth helped the Lakers close its deficit to 5-3. A sacrifice fly by Connor Burr set off the Lakers rally. Finally, Christman induced an inning-ending strike out from Jake Armstrong. 

After a quick strike from Wright State Lake, UC-Clermont responded with three runs in the fifth. UC-Clermont scored on a three-run home run by King. 

A three-run seventh inning helped bring the Lakers within three. A solo home run by Colton Nealeigh, an RBI double by Becker, and an RBI single by Austin Quellhorst fueled the Lakers' comeback. Tyler Venters flew out to end the ballgame.
