Softball Lakers Sweep Clark State

The Laker Softball team was back in action on Sunday as they traveled to Clark State Community College as a make-up for Friday nights rain out, to take on the Eagles in a doubleheader.

 

Game 1: Wright State Lake Campus 4 versus Clark State 2

Wright State Lake Campus defeated Clark State CC 4-2 thanks to a strong start. The Lakers scored on a triple by Abbey Renner and a fielder's choice by Sierra Fent in the first inning.

Sierra Fent led the Lakers with two RBIs, despite going 0-2 at the plate. The Lady Lakers played very strong defense behind starting pitcher, Abbey Renner. Renner took a no-hit bid in to the 5th inning, and went the distance, going 7.0 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 runs and no walks along with 6 strikeouts. Renner, also, went 2-4 from the plate with a run scored and a RBI.

Game 2: Wright State Lake Campus 6 versus Clark State 1

The Lakers again grabbed an early lead on its way to a 6-1 victory over Clark State CC in game two on Sunday. Coming off a strong game one, Renner singled in Hayley Ring in the first inning to take the early lead for the Lakers.

The Lakers took a 2-0 lead in the the seventh before adding four more runs to pad the lead. The big inning was thanks to a single by Sierra Fent, a single by Callie Vogel, and a single by Tiffany Ricketts.

The Lady Lakers collected ten hits. Renner, Vogel, and Ricketts each collected multiple hits for Wright State. Vogel and Fent each drove in two runs to lead the Lakers.

 

The Lakers now sit at 4-2 on the young season.

The Lakers will host their first home games of the season on Friday, as they host Kent State - Tuscarawas at Westview Park. First pitch of the DH is scheduled for 3pm.
