Lakers Outlast Eagles

Wright State Lake Women's Basketball came into Saturday's game versus Clark State Community College looking to bounce back from a loss to Urbana, but Eagles of Clark State were not going to go down without a fight.The Eagles used heavy pressure on the Lakers in order to keep the game close through three quarters. Ultimately, the Lakers proved to be too much for the Eagles to handle, as they walked away with the 57-45 victory to move to 2-5 on the season.

 

How It Happened:

Out of the gate the Ealges from Clark State were able to keep the game close with constant pressure, which lead to 19 total turnovers for the Lakers. The Lakers were unable to get much going offensively early, also. Clark State held a 11-9 lead after the first quarter. At the half the Lakers lead 21-16. The Lakers were plagued by poor shooting from three, in addition to the numerous turnovers.  

Haley McGillvary lead the Lakers with 22 points on 6-11 shooting from the field and 10-12 from the free throw line. McGillvary, also, added 15 rebounds, including 8 offensive boards in addition to 2blocked shots. The Lakers also received solid play from Onyx Lopez who had 20 points and 11 rebounds and Cami Hellwarth who also had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Lakers again play at home on Tuesday, as they take on Ohio Christian, November 22nd with a 5:30pm tip-off.
